I have seen many concerts in my time, but Taylor is by far one of the best- not only vocally, but performance wise as well. The amazing vocals and music continued throughout the entire night. She stood there, feeding off the positive energy, taking in the crowd.
After finishing the song, the crowd went so mental, that we were all screaming and clapping for five minutes. She entered to one of the most popular songs on her album ' Welcome To New York'. The bracelets mentioned earlier all lit up the entire seating area was a sea of light. There was a lot of build up surrounding Taylor's entrance, but it was well put together, giving the crowd an insight into the evening. The mood continued throughout Vance Joy, although many of the teenage girls giving Shawn support did not enjoy Vance as much.
The concert began with so much enthusiasm from Shawn Mendes, who definitely helped to get the crowd going, singing his earlier hit 'Stitches', as well as covers like 'thinking out loud'.
Walking into the stadium, the crowd were given complimentary bracelets that were used to increase the mood during the concert. My boyfriend then purchased tickets and surprised me on my birthday, telling me we were going to Tampa to see Taylor. However, as I am from England and we were unable to find tickets for the UK, I knew I probably wouldn't be able to go. For years I'd begged my boyfriend to take me to see Taylor, but we were always too busy. When Taylor Swift first announced a tour, I was thrilled. This is the age of Taylor, and we are all blessed to live in it. Whether you like her music or not, it’s wonderful that one of the biggest pop stars in the world also has the most personality, and has got to such dizzying heights by being unmatched at her craft. All three are worlds apart from the subtle country strum of her debut single “Tim McGraw”, but none of them could ever have come from anyone else. “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and “Shake It Off” are big, shiny pop songs. “I Knew You Were Trouble” cribs from dubstep. She’s able to experiment with radically different genres while the core songs still sounds unmistakeably like her. That experience of writing since she was fourteen means that at such a tender age she’s got to a point that many songwriters don’t ever get to. She was hired as the youngest songwriter to ever write for the Sony/ATV Tree publishing house at an infuriating 14 years of age and since then her success has been grounded in her honest, relatable lyrics and unmatched way with a hook. She’s a songwriter at heart, pure and simple. To call Swift a pop star, however, is to sell her short slightly. Its gets even more surreal when one thinks that she got to that point by playing Country music, only dipping her toes into pop once she’d secured her position as quite possibly the world’s most successful young woman. In fact she’s quite the opposite, and old school pop star who’s one of the world’s most famous people. Taylor Swift, it’s fair to say, is not one of those artists. Even folks getting number one singles like Robin Thicke, Meghan Trainor or Baauer (remember him? Exactly) are as good as anonymous to the masses that put their songs on the top of the charts. There aren’t all that many new pop stars who everyone and your granny have heard of.
